Image compressor
Drop your photos, pick a format and quality, and get files several times lighter - ready for a website, an email or an online shop.
Everything happens in your browser - nothing you type here is sent to any server.
How it works
Why compress images
Phone photos weigh several megabytes and are 4,000 pixels wide - far more than a website needs. Heavy images make a slow site, and a slow site ranks lower in Google and loses customers before it even loads. A 1920 px photo in WebP usually weighs 100–300 KB.
WebP, JPG or PNG
WebP is a modern format that's usually 25–35% lighter than JPG at the same quality, and it works in every current browser. Choose JPG when the file goes into older software. PNG suits graphics with transparency and sharp edges (logos, screenshots), but it's too heavy for photos.
The tool also strips EXIF metadata from your photos - including the GPS location your phone saves with every picture.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your computer - and there's no limit on the number or size of files.
Which quality should I choose?
75–85% is a good balance: the difference is usually invisible and the file is several times smaller. For shop product photos you can use 85–90%.
What size should images on a website be?
1920 px is enough for a full-width image, 1200–1600 px for a blog post, and 800 px for thumbnails.
